The UFO Phenomenon in Pine Bush, NY

A series of long exposure photographs capture the "Star Trails" in the night sky over Pine Bush
Located in the foothills of the Shawangunk mountains, bordering the Orange and Ulster County line, is the small Hamlet of Pine Bush, NY,  America’s most uncelebrated UFO hot spot!

Since 1987, stories of UFO sightings, photos and videos documenting alleged UFO encounters, began to surface at an increasing rate.  As a result, sky watchers, scientists and curiosity seekers flocked to Pine Bush, hoping to get a first hand glimpse of a UFO.  Shortly after that, several articles and books were written chronicling those encounters.  One of those books was “Silent Invasion”, published in 1991 by Ellen Crystall, Ph.D.  Dr. Crystall conducted an eleven year investigation into the mysterious activity surrounding Pine Bush.  Her findings became publicized, when she made several television appearances and articles about her work began to appear in publications such as Omni Magazine. This exposure fueled much curiosity and propelled Pine Bush into the UFO phenomenon.

Some communities might be reluctant to be associated with the UFO phenomenon and try to suppress any publicity relating to it.  But that’s not the case with Pine Bush.  Not only does the town accept it, it embraces it.  In addition to local UFO clubs, UFO themes are proudly displayed in community parades, business advertising, fund raisers and charity events.

Even the local diner, which is named “The Cup and Saucer”, at one time was decorated with framed articles, photos, newspaper clippings and other paraphernalia relating to UFOs. You could sit at a booth, have a burger and catch up on your UFO trivia.

Pine Bush has its share of true believers, those who don’t and those who are indifferent. But skeptics and believers seem to happily coexist, and all agree that the UFO phenomenon, has definitely added a quirky characteristic to this little town, which truly makes it a unique place to live.

On Saturday April 27, The Town of Crawford will be hosting The 2013 Pine Bush UFO Fair and Parade.  The fair will feature a full day of fun filled UFO events and activities including the premiere of a documentary film by Sarah and Felix Olivieri,  "In The Night Sky: I Recall a UFO".  Click here for more information and details on all the of day's scheduled events.

I remember Ellen Crystall use to give seminars at my home in Pine Bush in the early 90's about UFOs and Alien abduction. The presentation would include a slideshow of photos she took of UFOs in the night sky in Pine Bush also stories of her Alien encounters. I'm glad Pine Bush has embraced the Alien crazy cause it's good for business and always puts a smile on my face:) Hey Joe - killer photos as always!
